RoHS Explained
The European Union’s Restriction of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) is an EU Directive that must be transposed in each EU state into binding national legislation. This will restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment placed on the EU market beginning July 1, 2006.

The Directive seeks to limit the chance of hazardous substances possibly leaching out and polluting the environment during end-of-life recycling or disposal in landfills. According to the requirements of the RoHS Directive, manufacturers must design and ship products that are fully RoHS compliant, meaning they do not contain more than the allowances of any of the hazardous substances names in the Directive. The named hazardous substances are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.

Compliance actions by Power & Signal Group and Delphi Connection Systems
Delphi Connection Systems (DCS) and Power & Signal Group have identified its products affected by the EU’s RoHS directive and customers have been notified via the Production Trial Run notification process that measures are being taken to bring the companies into compliance with the Directive.

As PSG transitions inventory from the old parts to the new hexavalent-chromium-free parts, we will send our customers notification of when to begin shifting requirements to the new part number, including a quote for the new products.
